What fascinates me as a portrait artist is that virtually every face begins to look wonderful when I focus my attention on it long enough to draw it. To me a successful portrait is a record of the best qualities of the subject so that anyone looking at the portrait can see what there is to care about in this face and what makes this person special.

MY PROCEDURE is an informal collaboration. First I visit to get to know my subject and take reference images. Then looking over the images together we chose a pose, expression, the attire and setting. I use the images and schedule sittings as needed until the portrait is completed.
